Welcome to the

HUNTER MEANS INNOVATION FESTIVAL

5 to 16 May, 2008

As Chairman of the Hunter Means Innovation Festival Committee (HMIF), I welcome you to the 2008 event and this Website. AusIndustry has been sponsoring the Australian Innovation Festival since 2002 and all manner of events across the country during the month of May each year.

This is the inaugural Hunter Festival with events running on all days from Monday 5th to Friday 16 May throughout the Hunter Valley Region. A great diversity of events are programmed to 'show off' the region's special talents for innovation, with ideas out of work areas, science laboratories, research establishments, manufacturing industry, service industry, education-schools/TAFE/University, primary production, graphic arts, music, architecture, environment studies, financial services, defence support and many more.

Scan the two week program and just look at the range of organizations and companies opening their operations to show and demonstrate their innovations, as well as those that are having seminars/open lectures, to explain the innovations they are currently working on. This is your opportunity to hear about and/or see these wonderful products, services, equipment, technology, science, engineering, innovation, emulating from this region and it's highly skilled, dedicated and inventive workforce.

I encourage you to scan the website and select events that are of interest and register 'on line' to secure you place at the event location. Some site visits may require particular clothing/footwear but this is explained with the visit details etc.

The HMIF has the support of some major sponsors (see below), who are also participating in the festival events. That support has enabled the committee to present this great variety and to attract some 'high level' political, science, engineering, medical and financial services people, to visit the Hunter and participate in our events.

The Committee members and I look forward to encountering you at Events during the two weeks of this first Hunter Means Innovation Festival, whether that is in Maitland, Muswellbrook, Belmont, Raymond Terrace, Newcastle, Cessnock or elsewhere in the Hunter Valley. Enjoy the festival and its 'occasions' and tell us about your experiences at the events/visits undertaken, so that we may improve our performances in 2009 and beyond.
